Who's going to run the campaign? Stansbury?
Posted by: ziik | March 15, 2005 at 06:28 PM
Stansbery? I hope you're kidding. That guy barely kept the state party alive, and Beauprez won not b/c of anything he did, but because the NRCC came in and took over. Nooo, you need to look a lot further to have someone capable of running a statewide race. Don't get me wrong, Jack's a great guy, but seriously not qualified to take on a gubernatorial..

Stansbury run a statewide? Doubtful.
Posted by: TommyTommy | March 15, 2005 at 08:03 PM
Stansbery (sorry for the spelling error Jack) didn't exactly run the party into the ground Carl, that's a little strong. I didn't think he'd run it but I'm wondering who...I know for a fact that the Tonner/Watson powerhouse (hehe) is sitting this one out, so I don't really have any other guesses.
Posted by: ziik | March 15, 2005 at 08:24 PM
Dick Wadhams.
Posted by: big | March 15, 2005 at 08:25 PM
I didn't mean to suggest he ran anything into the ground, just that there are much more capable people out there who can do it. Who else was on BB's races? Obviously, Sean Murphy was, but I've heard he's not coming back to CO for this. Wadhams? I thought he was on G. Allen's race....
Posted by: Carl Carlson | March 15, 2005 at 08:31 PM
My bet is that SW runs it.
Posted by: Jon | March 15, 2005 at 09:20 PM
FYI - Dick Wadhams is gone. He is the Chief of Staff for Senator George Allen from Virginia. He is most likely preparing Allen for a Presidential bid in 2008. He isn't coming back to CO to run Beauprez for governor, that's for sure!
Jon: SW won't run it, SW is a consultant only.
My guess - Someone from out of state. CO doesn't have the management talent it needs and we need to bring some new people in and keep them here. TonnerWatsonStansberryWilliams ain't gonna cut it forever.
Posted by: TommyTommy | March 15, 2005 at 10:05 PM
Wadhams is Allen's press secretary, not COS, but you are right that he will not be back here to run a Gov race.
Posted by: Jon | March 15, 2005 at 10:19 PM
When is someone going to throw out John Marshall's name so that all the Salazar lackeys will light up this board? Oops, just did it.
Flame away, Salazar minions.
Posted by: Jon | March 15, 2005 at 10:22 PM
Jon,
Wadhams is CoS for Sen. Allen.
Posted by: a | March 15, 2005 at 10:27 PM
A and Tommy: you are right about Wadhams. I forgot.
Posted by: Jon | March 15, 2005 at 10:31 PM
Wadhams is looking at the "Rove Job"... Allen is going to make a run in '08 or grab for Majority Leader in Senate. One can only hope Wadhams will find his way back to CO, but he has earned the right to aim higher with the success on the "Stop STD" gig.
The Beauprez crowd is pretty tight. They don't seem to leak much.

Why is everyone overlooking Patrick Davis for running the Beauprez? He is not exactly small potatoes, after all he was the Political Director of NRSC in 2004 and oversaw 8 targeted U.S. Senate races.
Posted by: Thomas | March 16, 2005 at 07:25 AM
I heard Sean Murphy is going to come back to run it.
Posted by: Danny | March 16, 2005 at 08:02 AM
What about Dave Bell, the guy who ran grassroots on BB's first campaign? Is he still in-state or did he go back to DC?
Posted by: kibbles&bits | March 16, 2005 at 10:40 AM
Dave Bell? Colin Campbell was the real hero of that campaign and will likely be there again.
Posted by: Scooter | March 16, 2005 at 10:47 AM
HAHA! Boy, that's a good one. I guess his hero status was the reason that Beauprez fired him from his district staff. I'm pretty sure Campbell won't be on board this round.
Posted by: kibbles&bits | March 16, 2005 at 10:53 AM
Maybe Colin will run McInnis' race and get back at Beauprez? Why do Republicans always eat their young?
Posted by: Macman | March 16, 2005 at 11:02 AM
Fired, quit, whatever. I still wouldn't count him out. Campbell's have a way of suprising you.
Posted by: Scooter | March 16, 2005 at 11:03 AM
You're right Scooter, they sure do. Like switching parties after the party gets them elected. Some of us will never forgive that kind of back-stabbing and betrayal.
Posted by: demdog | March 16, 2005 at 11:07 AM
maybe spin-doctor jordan stoick will run it. He's young but is an emerging star in the party.
Posted by: catlin | March 16, 2005 at 12:32 PM
Stansbery directed the statewide Republican GOTV effort in '02. From what I remember, that went pretty well.

As for state party, he left in '03, way before Halaby ran it into an iceberg.
And looking at news articles, NRCC threw in $300k toward Beauprez's '04 race, not exactly 'taking over' a $3M race.

I don't know who's going to run Beauprez's race for Governor, but let's get our facts straight. Stansbery's got a solid record.
Posted by: Billy | March 16, 2005 at 01:35 PM
What's with all the specifics? Sounds like Billy knows Patrick Davis as well as he knows Jack. What gives?
Posted by: Macman | March 16, 2005 at 01:41 PM
Caitlin-
If you're naming emerging Republican stars, you have to put John Marshall on that list. Even though his candidate lost, he did more to keep that race close than most people would have.
