The usual suspects have spoken and The Denver Post has a good rundown of them here. We have to think Betsy Hoffman isn't all that thrilled to have Ward Churchill and Gary Barnett out there as two of her strongest supporters.
Obviously, the focus today has been on the football recruiting scandal, Ward Churchill, and binge drinking deaths on campus and how Hoffman handled these issues. Yet, it was Hoffman's claim of a job offer from Penn State (a job offer which actually didn't exist) as a reason she should get a raise that really turned the Regents against her. You can read our post from January on this here. The talk is that Michael Carrigan had enough of Hoffman's antics at this point and headed up the effort that led to Hoffman's resignation today.
Now, can Carrigan show the same leadership in cleaning up the mess in Boulder? Hoffman's resignation may give the Regents some breathing room, but Ward Churchill is still tenured, a new President needs to be found, and the football program continues to be a source of lawsuits, embarrassing leaks and national ridicule. This one ain't done by a longshot.
