While the Democrats continue their infighting, Republicans are moving fast and strong to make changes within their party. Two Denver Republicans have each pledged $250k to the Republican Regain the Majority Fund, with talk of a war chest to exceed $4 million. Several big donors apparently stepped forward to ensure the hire of the party's new staff director, who carries with him an impressive political resume as a winning organizer.
With Republican candidates already running laps around potential Democrats in the governor's race, new Democratic Chair Pat Waak may soon have her hands full. The time for ideological discussion would appear to be over.
CO Pols fails to realize how little Chris Gates had to do with D's success in 04 and how little Pat Waak will have to do with any future success or failure. The party didn't do anything in 04. Show me one thing the state party did.

Ditto, the State Democrat Party is a joke has been for awhile that's why we went around it. The DNC is equally unimportant. Al Yates and Polis are the real hero's and stepped up big time in 2004.

Who did the republicans hire as their staff director? and who are the two big donors you referenced?

You're absolutely correct that the state party doesn't play the same role as it once did, but it is still important. The party head is responsible for getting the staff in place, reaching out to big donors, and serving as an intermediary to stop a primary.
