9News has a story on Denver City Council President Elbra Wedgeworth and how angry she is that the city council isn't getting more pats on the back on the 10 Year Anniversary of DIA. She apparently sent an e-mail to DIA Marketing Director Sally Covington berating her for not giving the city council more credit and then issuing a veiled threat at the end. The whole text of the e-mail is here, but here's the good stuff:
DIA could not have been built without the support and years of hard work of the legislative branch of our City government. l know that it may be a surprise to you Ms. Covington, but Pena, Webb and Hickenlooper had help making this a reality and it was from Denver City Council.
The entire process of this 10th Anniversary has been handled very, very badly and City Council has been more of an after thought in your planning and acknowledgements. How this can be fixed will take time. But one thing you Turner and Vicki have to know, when you disrespect this City Council you disrespect me. And I am not one to disrespect Ms. Covington.
Very classy.
Hmmm...
You know, there were a whole lot of other folks in city government who worked hard to make DIA happen besides elected officials. I wonder if they -- the bureaucrats -- should be incensed, along with Elbra?
I mean, I could go on here about the plethora of "last minute" extraordinary construction and procurements and just really "on the edge" (of the law) expenditures that occurred to assure -- what was it, the third opening date! -- for DIA. But, what the hell...
The city slugs do all the work. The politicians get all the glory.

They should do it just like little kids' soccer: give everyone a small trophy for participating.
But seriously, what a blowhard.

I can't help but be so very, very embarassed for this poor woman -- I mean, despite the glaring disrespect for English grammar, Ms. Wedgeworth's gripe on getting credit for the creation of an airport she, herself, had not role in building makes me wonder why she is President of the City Council.
Elbra: Go with Pat Waak to the Land of the Crazies - we don't want to disrepect you, in fact we don't even want to know you!

The ego on that woman is astounding. Does she really think that she can garner respect through thinly veiled threats and nasty emails? It looks like something my younger sisters would send to each other when they get mad about someone stealing their boyfriends. Is that behavior becoming a President of the City Council? Get a grip crazy lady!

Hickenlooper? 10 years ago? Did he provide inagural beer? I complained about Stapelton back in the day, should I get kudos for DIA as well?
