State Representative Fran Coleman has decided to seek State Senator Dan Grossman's seat (SD-32) should Grossman run for Attorney General or decide against a re-election bid.
Jennifer Mello, who ran unsuccessfully for a CU Regent at-large seat in 2004, has already declared her intentions for Grossman's seat, and former Denver District Attorney candidate Beth McCann had reportedly been flirting with the idea as well. The Democratic primary field for this seat could continue to grow, and there's already some potential conflict out there: if McCann doesn't run for the seat herself, she will reportedly support Mello, which infuriates Coleman since the latter campaigned on McCann's behalf in the district attorney race.
While Republican chances at picking up this seat would be slim, the Democratic primary for SD-32 could be one of the more entertaining races of 2006.
Look for Josh Hanfling to seek the GOP nod

Alva,
What do you think the chances are that Hanfling will run? Would be interested in your opinion on this.

Actually, we left him out of the discussion completely by accident, but we have also heard that Hanfling may run. The Democratic field could swell to a half-dozen candidates, and depending on how mcuh effort that primary takes out of the eventual winner, it could make a run more attractive for Hanfling.

Josh would be great. I know there are Dems in NW Denver who are ready, willing and able to support him. Should make for an interesting time.
