The Casper Star Tribune has the scoop on Colorado Politics tonight…
…Reporting that Senator Joan Fitz-Gerald is very seriously considering a run for Governor.
Fitz-Gerald, of Golden, is one of only two women in the nation who serve as president of a state senate. She told a Summit County Chamber of Commerce committee Tuesday she knows a run for governor would be expensive and physically draining.
This is probably no real surprise – we’ve discussed this here many times before – and a competitive third candidate on the Democratic side would probably liven up the race a bit.
Of the remainder of the field:
Among other potential Democratic candidates, former Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter and wealthy think tank founder Rutt Bridges have said they will run. Former Lt. Gov. Gail Schoettler has been mentioned as a possible candidate, and U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar has not ruled out running.
All while the two Republican camps continue to BASH each other over a race that’s still 14 months out.
Please, God, let it be true.

Even Holtzman could beat "Nasty Fitzy."

yes - but she would certainly raise the bar. Between her policy talk and her communication skills, she would absolutely make both Bill and Rutt better in the process.

Red Hawk:
You must find the piece that Comedy Central did on JF and post it here. It was a Corddry bit about "lady senators" that was removed from their website a while back, but would be great for a recycle.

Sorry, meant The Daily Show on Comedy Central.

Gail is considering a run? That's news to me... anyone else heard that?

Elections in Colorado are decided in the Denver Suburbs. Fitz-Gerald has shown strong appeal in Jeffco--she's a contenda!
Underestimate her at your own peril Republicans....

She was on the Daily Show? For what? I would be interested to see that!

Oh yeah. It was friggin' hilarious. You could tell that she had no idea she was being spoofed. She got pretty mad at Corddry.

Ok, Rebel Dem is posting about the R primary and RedHawk is just posted on JF-G. I am starting to feel a chill in the air.
Posted by: Jake | July 06, 2005 at 09:19 PM
What's THAT supposed to mean?!?
Posted by: RedHawk | July 06, 2005 at 09:22 PM
You mean that we should actually bicker with the other side and not eachother? Well - that's no fun...
Posted by: RedHawk | July 06, 2005 at 09:26 PM
Not quite what I meant. . .
Posted by: Jake | July 06, 2005 at 09:29 PM
ahh... that he** has frozen over?
Posted by: RedHawk | July 06, 2005 at 09:31 PM
Jake lives in hell.
Joan F-G is one of the few Democratic reps with less than average Dem population than the state. She doesn't have, say, a Boulder or Denver district.
A Joan quote is on IMDB in the Daily Show Quotes. Only a funny portion.

Only when I read this blog!! Actually, I didn't say anything in my original post about JF-G. I have just found it interesting today to see the two "partisan" guest bloggers posting about the other side. With mixed results.
I don't really have an opinion about her running in a primary.

Here is the quote from the IMDB website
Rob Corddry: This is pork-barrel politics at its worst.
Sen. Joan Fitzgerald: How so?
Rob Corddry: It's... so so.
Sen. Joan Fitzgerald: You have no idea what pork-barrel politics are, do you?
Rob Corddry: Do you?
Sen. Joan Fitzgerald: Pork-barrel politics usually puts money into the system...
Rob Corddry: Oh, is that what they taught you in lady senator school?

This is a great scoop and all. But it's... in... the... wrong... state. (As in: Casper, WY.)
Joan will do a great job as Wyoming's next governor.

Run Joan Run!!!
It's about time that a qualified, savy, tough, intelligent woman become Colorado Governor.
Sure, others have tried but no one with the chance to win like Joan!

This should be a working link to Joan's clip. She has no idea what's going on...

Interesting that you choose to quote The Casper Star Tribune - it was an AP story that ran in the Daily Camera.
How are you following WY press better than CO press?
Posted by: gil | July 07, 2005 at 05:38 PM
It was the Casper paper that had the story on-line first.
